Response to - The Independent Maternity and Neonatal Review of Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust
For those of us who have campaigned on birth trauma and maternity care, we always knew the Ockenden Review would be difficult reading.
After speaking with campaign groups since the review’s release, many of us are still shocked by what this report reveals.
Today, I asked the Minister to address the postcode lottery in maternity care and explain how the Government will build a national effort to ensure consistent standards and real accountability across all NHS trusts.
His response outlined a plan of action but gave little clarity on what that will actually look like. I remain hopeful that change is coming, as do the many families expecting action but candidly, expectations are low.
I will continue to fight for change, at a time when it’s desperately needed because too many families have already been failed.
