Rosie raises the Water Crisis in the House of Commons

Updated: 6 days ago

Rosie Duffield MP has today asked the Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Steve Reed whether constituents and businesses in Canterbury will have to endure years of droughts and leaks, until the proposed Broad Oak reservoir is built.

Canterbury constituents have faced weeks of disruption to their water supplies, with the latest water outage impacting around 7,000 households - during a heatwave.

Steve Reed made a statement in the House of Commons following the publication of Sir Jon Cunliffe's review of the water sector. New reservoirs are said to be a key part of the solution to the multitute of serious water issues, yet the Canterbury Broad Oak reservoir is not due to be completed for 8 years.
