Potential Closure of the Urgent Treatment centre at Kent & Canterbury

Back in 2017, residents were told that Canterbury's Emergency Care Centre closure would be temporary. Nearly a decade later, it has still not reopened, forcing many people to travel further for urgent treatment and placing additional pressure on neighbouring hospitals.
Given that history, the fact that the Urgent Care Centre could close overnight from 8pm to 8am for an initial period of a year is deeply concerning too for our community. For a city the size of Canterbury and the surrounding towns and villages that rely on its healthcare services. The prospect of having no local urgent care provision is preposterous, as well as dangerous.
I will be contacting the current Secretary of State for Health as a matter of urgency.

I provided the following comments to Dan Essom of Kent Online regarding the closure:
MP for Canterbury Rosie Duffield said she would contact the Secretary of State for Health as a matter of urgency following news of the review.
“Residents were told that Canterbury's A&E closure would be temporary. It has still not reopened, forcing many people to travel further for urgent treatment and placing additional pressure on neighbouring hospitals. Given that history, the fact that the urgent care centre could close overnight is deeply concerning too for our community. For a city the size of Canterbury and the surrounding towns and villages that rely on its healthcare services.
