- Rosie leads cross-party campaign to Stop The Puberty Blocker Trial
Rosie Duffield MP is leading a campaign to Stop the PATHWAYS Puberty Blocker Trial, which is proceeding under instruction of the Health Secretary. Parliamentarians have a number of serious concerns about the PATHWAYS Trial, notably that it could devastate the physical, psychological, sexual and reproductive health of over 200 vulnerable children, leaving them medically dependent for life, Emergency Meeting Following the announcement of ethical approval for the Puberty Blocker Trial, Rosie convened an Emergency Parliamentary Meeting in the House of Commons with concerned experts in this area including Tavistock Whistleblower Susan Evans, Dr Helen Joyce from Sex Matters, Dr Louise Irvine from CAN-SG and Stephanie Davies-Arai from Transgender Trend. This meeting was very well attended by Parliamentarians from across both Houses. Rosie Duffield MP pictured with concerned experts following the Emergency Meeting Urgent Letter to the Health Secretary Rosie has written an urgent letter to the Secretary of State for Health, calling on him to reconsider his support for the Puberty Blocker Trial. It has gained signatures of support from Members of both the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

- Rosie hosts SEND Roundtable
Last week, Rosie Duffield MP hosted a roundtable discussion with Headteachers, SENCOs and parents of children with SEND alongside representatives from the Department of Education, to discuss the ongoing SEND funding crisis and explore what is going wrong and what more can be done to ensure some of the most vulnerable children in our society are not failed. It was heart-breaking to hear yet more desperate stories about children with documented needs on an EHCP (Educational Health and Care Plan) are no longer receiving adequate funding in some cases, and of Headteachers and SENCOs within my constituency who are working as hard as they can to ensure all children receive an excellent education, without adequate resources or funding. The blame for this sudden decrease in SEND funding throughout the constituency lies at the door of the Reform led Kent County Council who - despite being invited - did not attend this meeting. Their current policies and approach to engaging with key stakeholders, particularly Kent's Members of Parliament, alongside the delay in responding to any cases of concern are having a direct impact on children’s education and lives. I will not give up the fight to raise the voices and concerns of those who are being failed by bad choices and governance.
- Rosie urges the Government to tackle Commercial Sexual Exploitation
Commercial Sexual Exploitation is happening on an industrial scale, with the growth and mainstreaming of sites such as OnlyFans and online brothels like Vivastreet. Rosie Duffield MP has called on the Government to act now and outlaw pimping and force all pornography sites to verify the age and ongoing consent of all those featured on their platforms.
- Rosie marks Small Business Saturday in Canterbury
Rosie Duffield MP visited a number of Canterbury’s brilliant small businesses to promote Small Business Saturday. Support for small businesses has never been needed more as they face huge financial pressures and manage the fallout from the last two Budget events. These small businesses are local, innovative and make and sell excellent and unique products; I’d encourage you to visit these businesses like I did and shop locally if you can - and come away with wonderful gifts for Christmas! - Rosie calls for No Men in Women's Prisons
Rosie Duffield MP recently stood with colleague and friend Rebecca Paul MP and women’s rights campaigners in Westminster calling for No Men in Women’s Prisons. Women in prison are among the most vulnerable in our society. They deserve protection, dignity and respect. Biological males should never be placed in female prisons.
- Rosie hosts Hospitality Roundtable ahead of the Autumn Budget
Ahead of the Autumn Budget, Rosie Duffield MP hosted a hospitality roundtable with Sir Roger Gale MP at Broome Park Hotel to hear from businesses in our part of East Kent. The message is stark and clear. The combined effects of the increase in NICs, Business Rates, soaring Energy Prices and uncompetitive rates of VAT are decimating our hospitality sector. Rosie and Sir Roger have written to the Chancellor, calling on her to take meaningful action and restore confidence in this vital industry.
- Rosie attends the Kent Police Rural Crime Conference
Rosie Duffield MP recently attended the Kent Police Rural Crime Conference to hear speakers including Chief Constable Tim Smith and Kent Police and Crime Commissioner Matthew Scott talk about efforts to tackle rural crime across our county. The conference provided an opportunity to discuss best practice, ask questions and explore how key stakeholders can work together better to better prevent and detect crime. Rosie caught up with representatives from the National Farmers Union, including our local rep Amanda, and the Environment Agency. One of the biggest issues of concern for farmers in Canterbury is Hare Coursing - the illegal pursuit of hares by dogs, usually accompanied by gambling. I am extremely concerned about the high number of incidents in our area, and how this crime has been affecting our rural communities. I welcome Kent Police's commitment to invest in every part of our community, not just urban areas, especially considering they are the 6th lowest budget police force in the country with successive Governments giving high priority to urban areas. Rosie will be raising her concerns around lack of funding for Kent Police and the issues of hare coursing, fly tipping and plant theft with Government.
- Campaigning for Safer Fireworks for Vulnerable People and Animals
More and more constituents contact me every year to share their concerns about the impact of fireworks on animals and vulnerable people. I was pleased to attend an important event in Parliament with the Fireworks Impact Coalition this week, made up of leading animal welfare charities, to hear directly how we can make celebrations safer for everyone and introduce much tighter regulations to protect pets and wildlife. I'll continue to support measures that protect our communities while allowing people to celebrate responsibly.
- Rosie supports Ella's Law
Rosie Duffield MP met with Rosamund Adoo-Kissi-Debrah CBE, founder and director of the Ella Roberta Family Foundation, in Westminster this week. Rosie pictured with Rosamund, Dawn Butler MP and Sian Berry MP Rosamund has been an extraordinary campaigner for cleaner air, following the tragic death of her young daughter, Ella. The Clean Air (Human Rights) Bill, also known as Ella's Law, aims to ensure everyone can breathe clean air, safeguarding our children, communities and the world around us. Clean air is a basic human right, and I’ll continue to support efforts to make that a reality. You can read more about the Foundation and Ella’s Law here: https://www.ellaroberta.org
- Rosie attends Canterbury Remembrance Events
Rosie Duffield MP joined her friend Eric and fellow Royal British Legion veterans and volunteers at their annual Poppy Appeal stall. Rosie spoke warmly with volunteers and supporters, acknowledging the essential work they do to honour the nation’s servicemen and women. Sunday 9th November The wreath-laying ceremony on Sunday, held in remembrance of all those who gave their lives, was followed by a moving and well-attended service at Canterbury Cathedral. Rosie noted how powerful the moment always is for the community, bringing people together to reflect and pay their respects. After the service, local veterans, uniformed services, and cadets took part in the customary march-past—this year blessed with unusually glorious sunshine. The procession drew strong public support, with many turning out to show their appreciation. Rosie also took the opportunity to catch up with Canterbury City Council councillors, armed forces representatives, and her predecessor, Sir Julian Brazier. It was another reminder of how much the community shares in common as they come together to honour those who served.
- Rosie visits the site of new Canterbury Reservoir
Rosie Duffield MP recently visited the site of the new South East Water reservoir being built in Canterbury. With the recent water supply problems over the summer, a new reservoir couldn’t come soon enough, with rising demand and climate uncertainty putting pressure on our infrastructure. I welcome the project as an investment into our water security, sustainable farming and local economy. I look forward to visiting the site frequently during construction to see the progress.
