Rosie raises concerns about the relocation of stroke services out of Canterbury

Rosie Duffield MP has expressed grave concerns about the proposal to move Stroke Services from Kent & Canterbury Hospital to William Harvey Hospital and the impact on patients and their families. When it comes to stroke care, every minute is critical. Increased travel times to Ashford will have a real impact on outcomes.
I am extremely disappointed that the NHS had not informed me about the intended loss of this service from Canterbury, it is deeply concerning that such a major change appears to be happening by the back door. It also seems a complete anomaly considering the unit has just been rated the best in the country. I recently met up again with CHEK (Concern for Health in East Kent) campaigners who have a petition to stop the move and will be holding a protest photo shoot at Kent & Canterbury Hospital on Saturday 21st February at 10.15am.
Rosie visited the stroke centre recently at the K&C and was extremely impressed by their innovative and highly successful new unit there. The remarkably fast recovery of patients is largely down to the speed and proximity of very targeted groundbreaking treatment. Please sign and share the petition if you agree that this plan should be scrapped.
