Rosie Duffield MP attended the launch of Freedom in the Arts’s (FITA) Latest Report 'Afraid to Speak Freely' last night at the Royal Society of Arts.

The groundbreaking report, written by Rosie Kay, Denise Fahmy and Professor Jo Phoenix, presents the findings of FITA’s Freedom of Expression Survey.
The survey finds freedom of speech and artistic expression - widely considered cornerstone values of the arts and our democratic society – to be in a perilous state. In the Arts, nuance and dissent about topics identified as ‘taboo’ are met with professional and social reprisals, cancellations and bullying and harassment; fear of which generating widespread self-censorship.
Speaking after the event, Rosie said:
This is an all-too familiar story. I hope this report will be a turning point for the Arts and beyond.
