Job Details

Rosie Duffield, Member of Parliament for Canterbury, is seeking an experienced and highly organised Office Manager to join her office team. The successful candidate will lead the administrative operation of a busy Parliamentary office, overseeing the office team, managing the budget and liaising with IPSA on financial and contractual matters.

The successful candidate will have strong organisational and people-management skills, sound judgement, and the ability to manage a varied workload, including delegated signoff on relevant areas of office business, in a fast-paced environment.

This senior role will focus on day-to-day team management and the delivery of priority projects, ensuring the MP’s office operates effectively and strategically.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the office team, recruitment, personnel records and staff development.

  • Oversee office administration, equipment and security, ensuring compliance with relevant guidance.

  • Oversee complex casework and delegated sign-off, including constituent correspondence where appropriate.

  • Collate information for the MP, anticipate issues and resolve problems proactively.

  • Overall management of MP's diary, coordinate priorities and delegate work effectively.

  • Plan internal communications and stakeholder engagement.

  • Liaise with Westminster colleagues, constituency organisations, external bodies and members of the public.

  • Manage the office budget, keep the MP informed of financial matters, and work with IPSA on finance and contracts.

  • Identify training needs and ensure staff maintain relevant knowledge.

Skills and Experience
The ideal candidate will have strong leadership and communication skills, excellent judgement, and experience managing teams and complex projects in a fast-paced environment. Political or parliamentary experience is desirable.

There may be requirement for the role holder to work outside of normal hours and travel for work occasionally.

Upon appointment you will be required to comply with the Baseline Personnel Security Standard, undertaken by the Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO). See Members’ Staff Verification Office (MSVO) page for further info. MPs generally pay staff in accordance with IPSA guidelines.

Interviews will likely be held on w/c 31st August. Successful candidates will be informed shortly thereafter.
