Poppy is 2 years old and has been diagnosed with Neurofibromatosis type 1. This has caused a tumour to develop behind Poppy’s eye, making her condition life threatening.
Poppy was diagnosed in July 2016, and has so far undergone 58 rounds of difficult chemotherapy.
Poppy’s mum Elle has launched a desperate appeal, calling on the public to help her raise £300,000 that would cover the costs of treatment by specialists in America. The treatment Poppy needs for a chance of survival is not offered in the UK, and Poppy’s family and friends are asking for all the help they can get in reaching this goal, and taking their nightmare away.
Royston Brett, a friend of the family, recently completed a 300-mile bike ride, raising money for Poppy’s cause. On his way, Royston visited Rosie in Westminster, to tell her about the cause and ask for her support. Rosie was proud to support a local family in calling for the treatment Poppy so desperately needs.
The nature of Poppy’s condition means time is not on their side. Poppy must receive treatment as soon as she possibly can for a chance of survival.
Rosie is encouraging constituents and the wider public to help in any way they can. Some ways to do so are:
• Donate at Poppy’s Just Giving Page: https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/poppysplea
• Hold a fundraiser at your school or workplace
