Tonight, I cast my first vote in Parliament.
I voted for the amendment to the Queen’s Speech which called on the Government to end cuts to the emergency services and end the pay freeze. Sadly, it seems that austerity is business as usual for this incoming government.
The money is there when the Conservatives need it to keep themselves and Theresa May in office, but the rest of the country now face more devastating cuts to our emergency and other vital services. Cuts that have made us less safe.
Whilst the Tories continue to reject giving our hard-working emergency service workers the pay they deserve, Labour will be making their voice heard and doing everything we can to stop further cuts to public services. I will continue to fight for public sector services and workers and make your voices heard.
